The Grand Magazine was a British pulp monthly launched by George Newnes in London in february 1905. Its early issues contained mostly feature articles similar to Newnes's The Strand Magazine. The periodical was retitled The Grand Magazine of Fiction in april 1908, and the last issue was in april 1940. Contributors included Arthur Conan Doyle, William Hope Hodgson, Arnold Bennett, George Bernard Shaw, C. N. & A. M. Williamson, Ernest Bramah, Baroness Orczy, Edgar Wallace, E. Phillips Oppenheim, Rafael Sabatini, P. G. Wodehouse, A. E. W. Mason, and Agatha Christie. The American version was published a month later. A regular feature series called 'My Best Story', was started by Arthur Conan Doyle in the first issue and continued by, among others, H. G. Wells. Between 1905 and 1930, the newspaper published 1 preface and 21 short stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Book Condition: Very Good: A firm copy with mild wear to top and bottom edges, front joints, and corners. Age toning to pages. No jacket present.
