Of the eight short stories collected here, three narrate crimes (infidelity, smuggling, murder) and four narrate supernatural incidents. Most of her stories revolve around the topics of love and sex. Her treatment of these is somewhat transitional between the Victorian and modern, leaning towards the traditional view of women as noble and men as base; but she deals with the physicality of sex more candidly than is typical for this period. The author was a relation of the poet Tennyson.

Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good: Spine price worn off. A bright pictorial cover. Minor wear to edges and flap-folds. Mild tanning to spine with rubbing to center (label removed?). In clear protective cover.
