Authors: Charles Delorme
Location: London
Publisher: T. Gunn
Date: 1851
Edition: First Edition
Features: Title page dated 1851. Contemporary dark gray/black cloth with one-quarter black leather binding; gilt-stamped lettering and ruling to spine. All edges stained red; 391 pp., with Errata. Full title: The Marvellous and Incredible Adventures of Charles Thunderbolt in the Moon. "A science fantasy of wild and fantastic adventures on both the Moon and Jupiter. The hero's spacecraft is a steam-driven North Pole, but although the novel was ostensibly written for children, it has much to commend it to older readers. Preceding Lewis Carall by more than a decade, its early chapters have some of the curious logic of that classic. It is, however, a true interplanetary, with not a little thought given to the problems of spaceflight." - A Spectrum of Fantasy pg 67
Book Condition: Good+: A firm copy in a contemporary binding with rubbing wear to spine edges and corners. Rubbing to cover. Fading to text block stain. Dark stains to endpapers near edges. Light foxing to prelims; occasional mild foxing to pages. Owners' names to front free endpapers.
Notes: Charles Delorme pseudonym of Charles Rumball.
