The letter is addressed to Mrs. Louise E. Senft, thanking her for the order of a painting with sepia finish of Longhorns, and tells "a little history of the remarkable steers". She writes of her book, "the jacket is a fine work of art" and, "It is primarily a horse story--background is the famous Dixie Valley Ranch.. used to work there."
