He wrote for most of the pulp magazines including Black Mask. He created Detective series characters such as Oliver Quade "the Human encyclopedia", Simon Lash Private detective and johnny Fletcher amongst others. He was also very prolific in the western pulps. He was the the screen writer for many western and other televison shows.
