ORIGINAL ART Etching SIGNED Robert Lawson "The House of Usher" EDGAR ALLAN POEArtist: Robert LawsonAuthor: Edgar Allan PoeCondition: FineDate: 1925Notes: Each etched print is unique, no two prints come through the press exactly the same. The same etched metal plate is used each time, but for each piece the plate is wiped clean of ink and ink re-applied. The result is slightly different even if you apply the ink and wipe off the excess the same way you did it the first time as best you can (how you wipe off the excess ink changes the picture a little or a lot). Ink is re-applied to the etched plate and a new sheet of paper laid over it and the press cranked, rolling tremendous pressure forcing the ink into the paper and leaving the imprint of the metal plate edges on the four sides. With each pass through the press the sharpness of the etched art on the plate itself degenerates, so the plate can only be used a limited number of times. -Heartwood, Books and ArtITEM1109
